Snow is the Balls Whereas Trees are Hunted
As I was at work this evening, I got this great idea to shut down my department (I work in the garden department at Home Depot) and get some heavy equipment work done. I do this occasionally when it is slow and the right managers are on duty, so I decided tonight was ripe to do just that. After about 15 minutes of work, it reached my ears that some customers were wanting outside to get a Christmas Tree. I then opened the department and decided to help them find the perfect tree. I am a nice guy you know, and people often need my superhero instincts in picking a tree (but many in giving it a fresh cut when they pick the tree).
They were 3 college graduate females on the quest to find the perfect tree for their house. It was nippy outside to say the least, and whereas I was properly dressed for the elements with my stocking cap, work gloves, and coat, they showed signs of freezing even though they were nearly equally dressed for the elements. They finally picked a tree, either out of rational choice or hypothermia, and I gave it a fresh cut, wrapped it, and helped them tie it to the top of their Escape (or whatever it was).
As I finished tying it, we were chatting about school and KU when it came out that they were associated with Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU). This changed our entire conversation since it is a commonality between the foursome of us. They naturally asked me it I was going to DCC, to which I replied no because I was going to Passion. I sent them off with their Frasier Fir Christmas tree, and headed back to my work. After we parted ways, this got me to thinking...
We all brush shoulders with people at the store, school, sporting events, concerts, and sidewalk sales. We have the chance to meet so many people. The thing I thought of as I warmed up from the night air was the coincidence of meeting this trio on a slow Monday night. Meeting fellow believers wasn't life changing or dynamic, but it encouraged me in a way that I did not expect. In some ways I needed to chat with a sibling in Christ tonight, and snap, I did. We didn't talk about anything incredible, just small life stuff, school, and how much to take off the tree trunk. Yet I was encouraged... I sometimes wonder if there are such things as coincidences. I wonder just how involved God is with our lives. I wonder if I meet people by accident, slip on ice accidently, or run into that needy friend as often as I do.
I wonder just how much of what we label as accident in our lifes is really a Godincidence, not a mere chance of happening, but a divine appointment.
I think that there are so many more Godincidences then we expect. I was meant to meet those 3 graduates tonight at work, I was meant to talk with Chris P. until 2 AM a month or so ago, and I was meant to hear the message on encouragement at church last night. I think that all to often I plod through life thinking that stuff happens by accident and I meet people by chance when actually there is a man behind the curtain pulling the correct strings at the correct time. Maybe we should start paying more attention to those appointments and how they effect us. Interesting....

After you drink coffee or a mocha, can you smell the caffeine when you pee?
Have you ever noticed that there are several walls that you hit in the course of an academic alnighter? There is usually a wall around 12, 2ish, and 4:30 AM. It is wicked hard to push through the 4:30 wall, but all is better when the sun comes up.
Did you really read this epic boring post, or did you skim it?

Keep it real, and enjoy snow if you got some.
